Drawings of Space, so far...

Exactly what it says in the title.
I have done lots of drawings from my visit to the National Space Centre in Leicester except there much more colourful and detailed now! I am exploring the different colours of particular aspects of Space and I am also looking at technology.

Quad, Derby

'This exhibition marked the climax of a nine month project in which fourteen older members of the Derby community researched and discussed contemporary art, many for the first time, and selected a stunning art exhibition from the Arts Council Collection. The exhibition was officially opened by distinguished broadcaster, writer and advocate of Older People; Dame Joan Bakewell.'
The works chosen dated from 1929 to 2003 and included sculpture and painting by artists including:
John Bratby
Edward Burra
Patrick Caulfield
Anya Gallaccio
Charles Ginner
Duncan Grant
Siobhan Hapaska
David Hockney
Shirazeh Houshiary
Ken Kiff
Joanna Kirk
Peter Lanyon
L.S Lowry
William Nicholson
Winifred Nicholson
Grayson Perry
Bryan Wynter

While I was in town on Saturday (15th Jan), I decided to go have a look at what was on display at Quad. When I got inside, I noticed that an exhibition called 'Objects of Delight' was on and that it was one of the last days to go and see it! Let me tell you, I was absolutely 'delighted' by what was on display.
This piece of work in particular really caught my eye, it is called 'Colour Construction, 1960' by Peter Lanyon.
It immediately made me think about Space and the Future because of the beautiful mixture of colours as well as the unusual form of the piece itself. Really inspiring!
I will be definitely be thinking about this piece when it comes to drawing up designs for my final piece.

My Art Project - Outer Space

I have started my project, yay!
I am really looking forward to this project because I absolutely love Outer Space. This topic is endless so I know that I will have a really creative outcome at the end when it comes to making my final piece.

I am beginning to go into great detail with my research about Space. So far I have found many interesting and inspiring Artists and Designers over the internet. Sketches from The National Space Centre are also being done.

At the moment I am looking at these Designers, which are clearly linked to the shapes and forms of Space.
These are a few examples of who and what I have looked at...

Victoria Altepeter

This designer creates wall hangings and brooches made from a range of metals.

The National Space Centre

'We Are Astronomers' video...

http://vimeo.com/4592700

This is a video that I saw today in the dome theatre at The National Space Centre and can I just say, I was absolutely impressed by it! The way that the information was put across was done excellently. The music was so lovely too, very sweet - a nice touch.
In my opinion, the video makes you realise how interesting Space is and the extreme lengths Scientists and Astronomers go to so that they can collect data about it. What they do helps to understand life as we know it more and more.

This is just the trailer of the video I saw, I highly recommend others going to see it.

Narrated by David Tennant.
Music by Rhian Sheehan.

If you are as interested as me you should definitely check out the website.
